AOL publishes 500k User Queries Sampled Over 3 Months

ISPs can be stupid, and sometimes among those you can find AOL.
Last weekend, they had the “brilliant” idea, to publish search queries with user ID replaced by a number, like this:

The data set includes {UserID, Query, QueryTime, ClickedRank, DestinationDomainUrl}.

Fortunately they took it down right after, but unfortunately a lot of people managed to download it and spread it now. I am glad that I am no AOL customer anymore. 🙂

And no, this is no fake – the Google Cache still has the site (but without the download of course).
