Updated from “Windows Update” to “Microsoft Update”

Many of you sure noticed the new wave of renaming Microsoft products. On the right side of “Windows Update” I noticed the news “Microsoft Update”! Not that I think it will really give me a lot since I do not have installed Office in that Windows, but newever is newer, right? 🙂

And I have a nice new “Microsoft Update” entry in my START menu now! 🙂

Internet Explorer 7 soon for Windows XP 64 Bit!

The Beconfused Blog recently reported about IE7, unfortunately I couldn’t do the same, since it does not work on Windows XP 64 Bit yet, this will change soon as you can read on Bink’s website!
But the sarcastic thing is; eventhough the Beta 2 of IE7 is scheduled for April this year, a IE 7 Update for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB904942) is already out! 😀

it fixes “HTTP authentication issues in Windows-based systems that do not appear until Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 is installed.”

Cool! 🙂

Belgian Post & Lost Letter

Since some letters over Christmas got lost in the post, I complained to some Postal Services.
Belgian Post sent me a reply this week as a registered letter!

I would have preferd that they find my letter instead of sending me a registered letter, but at least they tried, so thank you! 🙂

Hope for better luck next Christmas!….

A ComPad screenshot slideshow

I have probably reported about the new ICQ ComPad Alpha Client.

Finally, I got my own account and so I decided to make a slideshow of some screenshots.

This slideshow can be found here!

Please enjoy! 🙂

Please notice that it’s only an alpha client yet and has no voice, or other extra features.

Opera now releasing weakly updates!

Opera intoduced a new thing today, an Oppera Desktop Team Blog announcing the weekly improvements and offering weakly builds. They won’t replace Technical Previews or Betas, and in contrast they won’t be tested for any bit.

Please read the warnings at the Desktop Team Blog and on Tim’s blog:

“The Weekly Builds are snapshots, they are not as thoroughly tested as a Technology Preview or a Public Beta. You should only use these builds if you are not afraid of losing data (e-mail, bookmarks, anything) or crashing your computer.”

I think I will stick with the beta’s, technical previews and last but not least; The finals, since I care about my data!

New ICQ Alpha Client Out

Thanks to GL in my forum for the news! 🙂

Finally, it happened, a New ICQ Alpha Client is out, but it isn’t called ICQ, it’s called ComPad and it’s only available for certain countries.
I can confirm that for people from Israel and Germany, the download does not work, you get an error message.
People from Brazil can download it.

Once installed, people from blocked countries cannot sign up either.
And currently, people from countries that can sign up are faced by an error message “Please try again later” at the time of this writing.

If anybody has got more luck please post it in my forum! 🙂

Garbage collection not working

Verdi does a walkout, a walkout of the public service. Originally it’s not part of my blog postings, but it’s strange seeing the garbage collection not working, everywhere rubbish bags on the streets.

It’s a special picture, and I am sure it will somehow start to smell soon :-/

Well this walkout started because of the plan to rise the weekly workhours from 38 to 40 again
