The problems with RealTek doesn’t seem to stop for me! Today, for no reason, all media players stopped working and Flash didn’t work either anymore. If I use my headset or another sound device it all works!
I have tried all you can think of to get it working again. After 2 hours I gave up on it.
I will get the Speed-Link UltraPortable Audio Card USB which doesn’t require a driver (I almost would bet it uses the C-Media codecs shipped with Windows =) and doesn’t require any driver
13 bucks including postage is not too bad!
Sorry RealTek, but I can’t be bothered to reinstall everything which works great, just because you cannot find why your driver made and makes problems since the beginning.
Quite a lot happened in the recent days for Skype.
1st of all, Skype became 4 years. As a user from the first public available version I am of course happy about this. With fun I remember the amazed reactions caused by the outstanding voice quality, eventhough at the beginning it still was only half-duplex, so you couldn’t speak while the other party does the same.
Villu Arak wrote a a blog entry about this quoting the encouraging words of Skype’s CEO Niklas Zennstroem.
Also, Mexico and Ireland got SkypeIn now! 🙂
And one problem I experienced too (not as somebody being infected but as somebody receiving such messages!) is the virus that spread over Skype messages. Skype updates about this case in the same entry too and is now “ctively engaging with domain owners to shut down malicious websites that are being used to spread the virus.“
They also allow to post your own card! 🙂

ICQ6 – Update Notification
Hi ICQ Users,
We’d like to thank you for your input in this group and to let you know that some of your feedback is addressed in our new updated version of ICQ6, which will be released shortly. Stay tuned and stay in touch!
Let’s hope that the ICQ Team will really stay in tuch with us – its users!. I was pretty sad when the ICQ Focus Group went dead and was full of spam!
Normally, I would present the feautures, my thoughts and some hilights with screenshots, but unfortunately it crashes while reindexing my emails, so I cannot use it myself 🙁
Ir hoever even got an own homepage at Get to know Kestrel
ICQ has now made a change to its homepage: The Groups and Forums system has been renewed, it allows now to get notified on icq again once somebody joined my group or I can get even invited. And coming up is also the possibility to add a group to my contact list! Now this sounds interesting to see how this will look like! 🙂
What is really bad, is that spammed groups were just ereased by the ICQ Team without warning or prior notice, this is bad 🙁
On the bright side, the ICQ Focus Group is spam free again!
Of course they also opened a ICQ Community Beta Version forum to leave your feedback regarding the new groups/forums system!
The Opera Desktop Team has released more info regarding the Krestel Development which is the next major Opera release and everything seems to be redone from scratch. Major higlights will be screenreader support again, faster Opera Email, better search, more compatibility with websites and much much more. The release is aimed for tomorrow which will be a very early state with a lot of bugs and edges still in, however the Opera Desktop Team promises a smoother and less troublesome experience with that release anyway.
Considereing they are working on this since over 1 year and the release has been delayed on schedule since a while, this gives us hope that it will be a real kicker! 🙂
