Together with the Relaunch of the ICQ homepage, the ICQ Team released 2 new versions of the ICQ Toolbar: A seperated download for Windows 98 and a ICQ SearchPlugin for Firefox.
According to the file name, the difference between both ICQ Toolbar versions is, that the Windows Windows 98/ME version uses ANSI while the Windows 2000/XP version uses UNIcode

After the Zoopaloola game found finally its way into the German ICQ 5 client, as read here it unfortunately is not available yet in the Russian ICQ 5! 🙁

After almost 4 months, Zopaloola seems to be finally available for the German ICQ 5, too!
I read here, that Zoopaloola is finally available in German ICQ 5.
Can anybody tell me whether it’s also available in the other localized ICQ 5 language versions?

Lately, the new ICQ homepage has been launched, but lately, we users have also to experience a new incompatibily issue with posting in the boards if you use Opera, Macintosh, or other browsers (as you can see in the screenshot above) which proves the statements from the ICQ Team a year ago, in which they write, that you “must have IE 5.5 or higher installed in order for ICQ to work properly. – This includes ICQ’s website.”
Despite this fact, they have choosen later to include a fix for Firefox.

As we all know, the ICQ Team seems to have decided to give up the ICQ Focus Group
(where people have been able to complain about stuff and make constructive suggestions to improve stuff in the client of ICQ and its services and the ICQ Team read and replied to posts).
Furthermore, since March, 29th, 2006, there is no more ICQ Support either.
It seems to be closed forever!
Result: There is no place now where people can turn to if they need assistance with ICQ problems or to leave their constructive critism!
Since petitions doesn’t seem to cause much when you look around, I ask everybody who wants to fight for ICQ Support and the ICQ Focus Group to write a complaint letter to ICQ in Israel and USA.

Just noticed it by accident: Blogger has intoduced his own automatic “trackback” system called Backlink, I have however decided to keep the old Haloscan Trackback system and just add the blogger backlinks on the right besides it, since I do not want to lose the old trackback references and Blogger’s ssystem works different from Haloscan’s trackback!
So, you as readers and posters can now choose between 2 trackback systems to refer to if you want! 🙂

Once in a while (like once every year), it happens that the ICQ login server seems to be down or something.
Well, seems I am not the only one with the problem:
It seems to only affect some accounts.
Hmm, since ICQ is located in Israel, I think they should have fixed it by tomorrow, because their weekend is Friday & Saturday.
If I knew about this problem, I wouldn’t have restarted my PC. My antivirus prg and sound driver stopped working, that is why I had to restart my PC…
Update: April, 2nd
It worked to connect today till 1:30 PM (EST), since then, it’s down again.
Since I could login yesterday evening and today morning, I guess it’s really some of the ICQ login severs. As you can read in the ICQ Knowledge Base here, they have several of them. Some report that switching the port to 443 or 88 (but 88 won’t like the Xtraz Center too much, it seems) helped temporarily to login.
Also I noticed that the ICQ homepage loads very slow now!
