Since from now on, GSync works with my monitor, it is by default enabled, means in Nvidia’s APP, the global setting is 162 Hz which is just shy of the max refresh rate of 165, and VSync on while in the modern games themselves, vsync should be off.
Anyway, as reported earlier, e.g. in my System Shock Classic post, older DOSBOX 0.74 version which is the one mostly shipped with DOS games in Steam, only has a blinking cursor in full screen.
It’s usually a DOSBox fullscreen/renderer incompatibility with modern Windows, the NVIDIA driver, or a variable-refresh display.
The fix for this is changing in the config file
[sdl]
fullscreen=true
fulldouble=false
output=opengl
the output type is usually the culprit
output=opengl worked, however now it breaks off the intro at saying “Attention” at carmageddon max pack in dos box.
changing “core=dynamic” into core=normal fixes that.
