Skype has at the moment problem with illegal sites selling SkypeOut and SkypeOut inofficially. That’s why some accounts got blocked which caused users in rage in the English and interstingly also in the recently launched German forums.
Well, finally, the official statement from the Skype Staff has been posted in the Forums here:
“Hi !
We have experienced several payment incidents due to the use of fraudulent payment methods. All these events are connected with a limited number of unofficial websites reselling SkypeOut Credits. All accounts that were linked to these fraudulent transactions are temporarily restricted.
We are now investigating these accounts and websites and we check every concerned account in order to evaluate its possible participation to this fraud scheme.
We want to stress the fact that these websites are NOT official Skype partners.
We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience. We are working on this matter.”
It has also been translated into Russian which suggests that a lot of users from Russia were affected.
